The mere mention of JÄGERMEISTER
LIQUEUR is enough to raise a knowing
smile to the face of any seasoned imbiber. The popular, must
have elixir has become a classic rite of passage and can be
found behind nearly every bar on the planet.
The Mast family founded the Mast-Jägermeister
Company in 1878 in Wolfenbüttel, Germany. Jägermeister
in German means master of the hunt. The herbal liqueur
was first bottled and widely marketed in 1935.
Renowned Jägermeister is comprised
of a sophisticated blend of 56 roots, herbs and spices from around
the world, including gentian roots, valerian, poppy seeds, ginseng
and chamomile blossoms. The various botanicals are individually
macerated in neutral spirits for up to 6 weeks. They are then filtered
and matured in charred oak barrels for a minimum of one year prior
to blending. The liqueur is bottled at 70 proof.
Jägermeister is a singular sensation
not to be missed. It has a reddish brown hue and a wafting bouquet
loaded with spice and peppery aromas. The liqueur immediately fills
the mouth with a montage of flavors ranging from bittersweet to
spicy hot. The finish is long and spectacular.
Jägermeister is at its best served
chilled and enjoyed as an ice cold shot. It is also the featured
performer in scores of contemporary cocktails.
