The surging popularity of rum in this country is due to a large degree to the uncompromised rums of Appleton Estate. Produced continuously since 1749, it is now the most highly sought after rum from Jamaica. Every step of production takes place on the Appleton Estate in St. Elizabeth Parish. The estate mills its own sugar cane and distills both light-bodied, continuous-distilled spirits and fuller, more complex pot-distilled rums. These rums are skillfully blended together and then aged in charred, American oak barrels.

Appleton Estate V/X Jamaica Rum is a spirit masterpiece. The rums used to make up its blend have an average age of 5 to 10 years. After blending, the rum is rested in huge oak vats to allow the constituent elements to become fully integrated. It is bottled at 80 proof.

The V/X on the labels stands for “very exceptional,” which is definitely an understatement. The rum has a deep golden-amber color and a generous bouquet of oranges and molasses. The rum’s medium body fills the mouth with the semisweet flavors of caramel, vanilla and spice. Possibly its best feature is the creamy, long lasting and flavor enriched finish.
